What must be true before growth?
Growth is usually discussed as a question of opportunity. The more revealing question is whether the organization can carry what opportunity creates.
Demand can validate an idea while simultaneously exposing the institution behind it.
When responsibility is concentrated, systems are implicit, and continuity depends on exceptional effort, growth does not resolve fragility. It amplifies it.
This creates a productive inversion: before asking how to grow, ask what must become durable. Which responsibilities need clear ownership? Which relationships require continuity? What can no longer depend on memory, goodwill, or one person’s time?
The question remains open because capacity is contextual. But the pattern recurs: possibility becomes durable only when an organization can hold it.
